The ABZORB system is the most frequently used damping system for New Balance Sneaker.

It consists of Dupont™ Engage® and Isoprene rubber layers and a special, secret foam material, which is used in the Midsole is placed.

The materials are used in the heel and ball of the foot to ensure maximum energy and shock absorption. Thanks to a better cell structure, the New Balance ABZORB foam material guarantees a longer durability than the EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) foam often used by other manufacturers in the footwear industry. The following models, among others, are produced with the damping system:
New Balance 530, New Balance 9060 or NB 997.

The absorption technology consists of a special Foam material, which was developed to Impact forces and at the same time provide a good Springback to offer. This ensures increased comfort, especially for running shoes.

Here is a rough overview of how New Balance Abzorb works:

  • Foam material:
The centrepiece of an Abzorb sole is a foam that is used in the midsole of the shoe. This foam is compressed on impact to absorb the energy.

  • Impact absorption:
When the foot strikes the ground, impact forces are generated by the movement and weight of the body. To protect the foot, the Abzorb material absorbs these forces and distributes them over the entire sole.

  • Cushioning and comfort:
The material helps to minimise the impact on the feet during running, resulting in a more comfortable running experience. In addition, by reducing the strain on joints and muscles, runners can usually run longer and more comfortably.

  • Longevity:
The Abzorb technology is also designed to retain its cushioning properties over time. This means that the shoes can continue to provide reliable protection and comfort even after repeated use.
